Chadderton occurs as town set sextuplet miles from either a central city of Manchester. It joins hexad more towns to form a Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, a a portion of the decade districts of Greater Manchester. Prior to a local government reorganization around 1974, Chadderton experienced an Urban District Council, and was placed to the south east of the old county of Lancashire. Chadderton has an Andrew Carnegie library that is open most weekdays. Chadderton has a few local societies, a Chadderton Historical Society and the Chadderton Chrysanthemum Society.
